To boost regional tourism and connect travelers more intimately with Mexico’s rich heritage, the administration behind the Tren Maya project has unveiled ten new travel packages designed for the Easter vacation period. These offerings, presented during Wednesday’s national press briefing by Tren Maya Director Óscar Lozano, will be available from April 11 through May 1.

So far, 117 families have already made reservations, reflecting strong interest in domestic travel experiences that combine cultural depth with convenience. The initiative signals an essential step in transforming the region’s perception of rail travel, not merely as transportation but as an immersive journey into the soul of the Yucatán Peninsula and its surroundings.

The ten curated packages vary in length, route, and cost, offering travelers multiple ways to explore the region’s historical, ecological, and cultural wealth.

Here’s a look at the newly launched itineraries:

This rollout is more than a logistical offering, it’s a cultural initiative, rooted in a vision to decentralize tourism and spread its economic and social benefits more equitably across communities. By linking urban hubs and heritage sites, the Tren Maya positions itself as a powerful agent for sustainable development.

At a time when many are re-evaluating what it means to travel meaningfully, these packages seem to ask the right questions: What stories do landscapes tell? How can transportation contribute to cultural preservation? And what does it mean to journey, not just move?
