In a resounding affirmation of sports as a tool for growth and transformation, the Tulum Country Club celebrated a landmark achievement as its young footballers triumphed on an international stage. From April 15 to 18, the U10 team of the Educational Football Program emerged victorious at the World Challenge hosted by the Real Madrid Foundation in Madrid, Spain.
The event brought together over 1,000 children from 72 teams representing 23 countries across four continents. These young athletes were not merely participants, but ambassadors of a broader mission: promoting values-driven education through sport.
With discipline, unity, and remarkable skill, the Tulum Country Club’s U10 squad stood out among dozens of global teams. Their championship win, though impressive, was just part of the story. The real triumph lay in their conduct, marked by camaraderie, sportsmanship, and a commitment to excellence that mirrored the core values of the tournament.
“This victory is simply a reflection of what happens when we believe in the values that sport can instill,” said Pablo Gil, former Real Madrid player and technical director of the Tulum program. “More than the scoreline, it’s about watching these boys grow as individuals. Representing Tulum at an international level is a genuine honor.”
The World Challenge, held across the Real Madrid City sports complex and other official venues, is not designed as a high-performance competition. Instead, it prioritizes community, learning, and the transmission of values such as respect, motivation, healthy habits, autonomy, and equality, principles that the Real Madrid Foundation has championed for years.
What makes Tulum’s success particularly inspiring is the fact that the Educational Football Program was launched only a year ago. Spearheaded by Grupo Piñero’s Residences & Golf division in collaboration with the Real Madrid Foundation and the German International School, the initiative is already yielding tangible results, not only in athletic development but in character building as well.
Their journey to Madrid and their performance on such a prestigious platform signal the emergence of a sports project with depth and vision. The young champions have sparked a sense of pride and unity in their community, proving that investment in holistic youth development can yield powerful outcomes.
